NEW DELHI, Sept 20:
After registering an FIR against Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal over alleged irregularities in the appointment of the women panel’s staff, the Anti-Corruption Branch is likely to issue a notice to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
Talking to reporters here, ACB chief M K Meena said, “We will also send a notice to Manish Sisodia in connection with the case.”
A letter was written by Mr Sisodia demanding an autonomous status for the women’s panel but an issue was raised up since only a Chief Minister has the authority to write that letter to the Lieutenant Governor.
Earlier in the day, an FIR was registered by the ACB against Ms Maliwal under the Prevention of Corruption Act over alleged irregularities in the appointment of the women panel’s staff.
Asked about the FIR against the DCW chief, he said, “Investigation is underway. Everyone related to the case will be questioned.” Ms Maliwal said, “There are few people in the national capital who do not like the question being asked by us. So, they are trying to create differences between the state government and the Centre.
“They are wrong if they think they can stop us. Even if they put me in jail, I will fight for our cause.”
The branch received a complaint by former DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh in which she had claimed that several AAP supporters were given plum posts in the women’s panel. (UNI)
