JAMMU, June 5: District Congress Committee (DCC) president, Jammu Rural, Hari Singh Chib has raised serious concern over the slow pace of ongoing vaccination campaign in the Jammu region.
In a press statement here the DCC chief raised this concern after facilitating vaccination of people of Raipur domana of Ward No 59 and 60 and interacted with people during visit to vaccination centre at PHC Toph Sherkhania along with the Corporator of the area Rajinder Singh. He said that still people of Jammu region falling in the age group of 18 to 44 years are not getting the appointment slot for Covid vaccination and this could prove to be disastrous especially in view of the fact that some experts continue to reiterate that a third wave is anticipated to hit the country in October this year.
Hari Singh said that the heavy rush of people outside vaccine centres across Jammu, without adhering to social distancing that is mandatory goes to show that the Union Territory Administration especially, the concerned authorities have in fact made mockery of health management system by throwing COVID-19 SOPs to winds. What is required today is initiating requisite measures on a war footing in order to ensure that 100 % vaccination is done across Jammu and Kashmir, before the third wave of Covid-19.
