DC Udhampur reviews implementation of Social Welfare Schemes

UDHAMPUR, Jan 15: The progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes being implemented by the Social Welfare and Education Department was today reviewed by District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla, here at a meeting of concerned departments.
The DDC took Scheme wise review being implemented by Social Welfare and Education Department like NSAP, pre-Matric and post-Matric Scholarship, Scholarship Schemes for minority, Samagra Shiksha, mid day meal, Aadhar seeding of students etc.
Chief Education Officer, PD Sharma, informed that there are 24150 students eligible for pre-matric scholarship under SC/OBC category whose forms have been filled and lists sent to Social Welfare Department for sanction and disbursement of scholarship.
In this regard, District Social Welfare Officer, Sajad Bashir Somberia apprised the meeting that scholarship amounting to Rs 1.45 cr has been sanctioned in favour of 16368 students under pre-Matric SC/OBC category. The DDC stressed on 100% coverage of all eligible students and asked the CEO to get certificate from head of institute so that no eligible student of the school is left out of scholarship benefits.
While reviewing the National Social Assistance Scheme( NSAP) and Integrated Social Security (ISSS) scheme, the DDC advised for 100% Aadhar seeding and weeding out of undeserving persons to provide the benefit to eligible beneficiaries.
The meeting was apprised that 80% Aadhaar seeding has been completed in case of pension schemes.
The DDC asked to generate awareness about the beneficiaries’ oriented schemes so that no eligible person was left out. He advised the concerned departments to proactively facilitate the students in completing the requisite formalities especially in Aadhar enrolment, issuance of income certificate and opening of bank accounts for early disbursement of scholarship amount through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar and CPO Rajeev Bhushan.
