DC tours Nubra valley, assures redressal of people’s grievances

Leh, Oct 21: The Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar on his extensive tour of Nubra region visited Khardong village and assessed the people’s problems.
The people of Khardong demanded a mobile tower. The main objective of his tour was to assess the developmental progress and implementation on various schemes going on in Nubra valley.
At Deskit, Nambardars of various villages gathered to put forth the demands of respective villages before the DC. The Nambardar of Khyungroo demanded for a permanent scheme of drinking water supply in the area and also requested to provide assistance for Women’s Self Help Groups for generation of income.
The people of Deskit demanded two hours extension in the duration of power supply in the evening and also urged for deployment of a tanker for water supply to the people during winter months. DC gave assurance to fulfil their demands shortly.
The Nambardar of Hundar demanded for repair of village internal link road and installation of a bridge over Hunder Tokpo at Laksosa place. The demands of other Nambardars included water hand pump for Udmaroo, Medical Sub Centre at Skuru, irrigation water lifting system at Skampuk, communication facility for Waris, link road and medical sub centre for Fastan.
The villagers of Bogdang demanded for opening a degree college, water tanker and extension of power supply duration.
The demands of the people of Turtuk included establishing Sub Divisional Headquarter at Turtuk, opening of a new polling station and Cooperative marketing facility.
Giving patience hearing to the people’s representatives and individuals at various places, DC Sachin Kumar gave assurance to fulfil their genuine demands at the earliest and gave on spot directions to the concerned officers to immediately attend to the people’s need of important nature. DC assured to provide a V-set for Waris and also gave word for extension of power supply duration where this demand was raised.
On his second day tour of Nubra, Sachin Kumar Vaishya visited the villages in Siachen belt to learn about the development works and public issues.
In all the villages, DC interacted with the village Nambarder and listened to all their problems and grievances. He gave assurance to look into the issues and try to address their demands on priority at the earliest possible. He also visited the Government Higher Secondary School, Sumoor and interacted with the teachers and students to get first hand information about the functionality, facilities and standard of the school.
DC was accompanied by the SDM Nubra Sonam Norbu and other Sub Divisional level officers.
