DC Samba visits flood affected areas

JAMMU, Sept 26: Mubarak Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Samba conducted tour of flood affected villages for inspection of restoration works, besides distribution of relief material ‘viz’ Ration, Blankets, Clothing and Dry Fodder for Livestock in the camps.
The camps for distribution of relief were organized in various flood affected villages ‘viz’ Sumb, Goran, Kamore etc. The relief was distributed among the families whose houses, crops have been fully damaged due to recent heavy rains/flash floods.
Several NGOs like Shri Bhagwan Mahavir Swami Jain Saiva Kendra, Shri Sahasana Parshavnath Public Charitable Trust-Surat etc. from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Jammu have also come forward to help the flood affected sufferers by providing relief material such as family packs of Rice, Dal, Sugar, Edible Oil and dry fodder for livestock.
It was informed by the representatives of NGOs present during the relief distribution camps that 3000 to 5000 family packs would be distributed among the flood affected sufferers in District Samba, besides the providing of C.G.I sheets for re-construction of collapsed houses/schools alongwith cement and bricks.
The free ration for six months to the flood affected sufferers is also being distributed in the district. The officers have been directed to supervise the distribution of relief and also ensure the presence of Sarpanches/Panches, Numberdar/ Chowkidar, besides the prominent persons from different walks of life, so that the relief could be distributed expeditiously and transparently.
Among others, the Deputy Commissioner, Samba was accompanied by Additional District Development Commis-sioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commis-sioner Revenue, SDMs, Tehsildars.
