SAMBA, May 29: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma on Monday chaired a meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) District Level Committee.
The meeting reviewed the action taken by the stakeholder departments in response to the decisions reached at the last meeting and to develop an action plan to end the drug trade and nuisance in the district.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police, Benam Tosh; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rakesh Dubey; ACR Kusum Chib; Assistant Drug Controller, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar Headquarter, SDM’s, SHOs, and Dy. Commandants from BSF.
During the meeting, the officials discussed different agenda points, including holding of Information Education and Communication activities, installation of information/feedback boxes for confidential information in educational institutions, Activation of Youth Club and Social Organization, functioning of drug de-addiction centers, inspection of Pharmacist/chemist Shops, working of the control room, and enforcement drives.
In order to completely eradicate the drug problem from the district, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of involving youth and social organisations. The Deputy Commissioner demanded in writing from all principals/headmasters of all schools that none of their students, including both boys and girls, are abusing drugs
The DC also stressed that all departments should identify a suitable building for establishing a de-addiction center in Samba.
He further emphasized the need of the Education Department and Head of Colleges and Schools having an active role in raising awareness of the dangers of drugs among students and parents. Also sports activities by the departments should be conducted regularly among youth.
The DC emphasized that all departments should make efforts to make all identified hot spots areas in district samba free from drug before 15th august and make district samba drug free district. In order to tackle the deadly drug trafficking activity, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the necessity for enhanced collaboration across all line departments, especially enforcement agencies.
