JAMMU, Sept 26: Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu alongwith Dr. Piyush Singla, Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North, Tehsildar Bhalwal, BDO Bhalwal and Mathwar, officers from various line departments conducted elaborate tour to assess the situation of relief and rehabilitation work going on in tehsil Bhalwal.
Detail meeting alongwith Panchayat representatives was conducted at Bhalwal and Kotli. Sarpanchs and other persons participating in the meeting raised various demands which were addressed by the DC and necessary directions were given to the concerned officers.
DC directed to revenue authorities to complete the assessment of damages and distribute the relief cheques by September, 30. Distribution of ration to the affected families was also reviewed and CAPD officials were asked to complete the distribution within one week.
People demanded reconstruction of bridges over Keri Nallah at Bhalwal which got damaged during the recent floods. Also lot of demands regarding protection work of various nallahs and rivulets were raised.
DC also reviewed the status of newly created subunits viz-a viz infrastructure and manpower of these units. He visited the offices of Sub Divisional Magistrate North, Tehsildar Bhalwal, NT Bhalwal and BDO Mathwar.
