DC reviews loss assessment, relief measures

Udhampur, May 13: District Administration, Udhampur, conducted a thorough losses assessment of the damages caused to private property due to cloudburst and flash floods in Chenani and Kud areas for promptly providing relief and assistance.
A committee of officers headed by SDM Chenani Devinder Sharma under supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, made an extensive assessment through the inter-departmental teams in presence of village panchayats, Lumberdars, Chowkidars and affected families. The loss was assessed to be Rs 34.66 lakh which is being provided by District Administration to the affected families.
The assessed loss include Rs 3.44 lakh on count of damaged houses including 4 houses fully damaged and 2 partially damaged,; Rs 3.34 lakh to six families for loss of livestock which included 6 large milch animals, 18 small milch animals and 4 large drought animals and Rs 27.88 lakh on account of complete damage of crop on 410 hectares of land which belonged to 1891 families in the Chenani sub-division. A total of 1903 families have been affected by the devastating flashfloods.
DC Dr Shahid Iqbal convened a meeting of officers from essential services and reviewed the plan for restoration of power and water supply in Chenani, Kud, Mada, Bhattal-Ballian, Laddan and other areas where large scale damage to electric poles and supply lines was reported. ACD, ExEn PWD and ExEn REW have been deputed to assess the damage to public utilities and immediate restoration under available resources.
The relief assessed by the committees is being provided to the affected families online through the e-Payment System established in Relief Cell of DC Office Udhampur. Meanwhile a team of officers led by Tehsildar Chenani Rafiq Ahmed provided relief items to the affected families and items of immediate requirement like ration, tents, medicines etc.
