DC Reasi holds meeting with PRI members

MAHORE, June 25: The District Administration Reasi is making concerted efforts to strengthen Panchayati Raj System and ensure their full involvement in planning and execution of development works.
The Deputy Commissioner, Sushma Chauhan as part of this endeavour, today chaired the meeting of Panchayat members of Mahore block and discussed the measures for strengthening and devolution of powers to these gross root level institutions.
Additional District Development Commissioner Reasi-Bhawani Rukwal, ACD Reasi-Suram Chand Sharma, SDM Mahore-Subash Dogra, GM DIC Reasi-Krishan Lal, Chief Education Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Sheep Husbandry Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, CMO, DPO, ExEn PWD, PHE, AD Handicraft, other district and block officers were also present in the meeting .
Chauhan, while speaking on the occasion said, PRIs can play vital role in development, adding that they have the first hand knowledge of problems and issues of the people.
These institutions can provide effective feedback to the administration about the implementation of the schemes and help it to remove the bottlenecks if any.
She called upon PRIs to make positive contribution towards development, adding that the line departments have been directed to provide every assistance to the Panchayats to meet their objectives. She said that the Tehsildars and BDOs have been directed to hold monthly meetings with 14 line departments for which Panchayats should come up with specific development plans.
The DC also asked for formulating the agenda of the meetings and setting up of monthly targets for each Sarpanch.
The DC called upon PRIs to act as an interface between public and administration. She asked all the 14 departments connected with PRIs to pay special attention to empowerment of Panchayats and to coordinate with the panchayat members.
On the occasion, Chauhan also reviewed performance and services of all line departments to the Panchayats for the last two months.
During the meeting, the panchayat representatives put forth  various demands   which included posting of adequate staff in schools and healthcare institutions, opening of more health centers and schools, payment of work done claims under MGNREGA, plantation of trees through Forest Department in various parts of the Mahore, augmentation of potable water supply, improvement of roads, improvement in power distribution system, repair/replacement of damaged transformers besides various other demands. DDC assured the PRIs for early redressal of their grievances.
