DC Reasi calls for steps to minimize road accidents

REASI, Dec 13: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Charandeep Singh today held a meeting regarding district Road Safety here today.
On this occasion, ADDC Jyoti Salathia, ADC Abdul Star, Additional SP Reasi Surjeet Kumar, CMO Rajeev Sharma, CEO Mushtaq Ahmed, ARTO Rajesh Gupta and members of committee were present.
While interacting with officers, Charandeep Singh explained to the participating officers that the Road Safety Committee was constituted by the Government of J&K with the main objective of reducing road accidents and saving precious human lives and for better management of traffic within the district.
On this occasion, several agendas were discussed. The main issues discussed in the meeting include formulation of District Road Safety Plan, inspection of roads by Police department through RADMS App in order to know the actual reason of accident, identification of Black Spots/Accidental Prone areas for taking corrective measures, repairs and installation of crash barriers and road signages, removal of encroachments from footpath and roads, organising Medical and awareness camps, availability of ambulances on NHW near accidental prone areas for immediate shifting in case of any mishaps, recommendation for suspension of driving licenses for violation of traffic rules like over speeding, drunked driving and use of Mobile phones while driving.
The DC instructed the authorities for strict action against MVA norms violators and emphasized on regular sensitization of drivers and bikers for ensuring safe driving.
On this ocassion, Charandeep Singh issued instructions to the executing agencies for proper maintenance of roads and installation of crash barriers with reflecting tape, repair of parapets and other sinages at working sites with emphasis on accident prone area.
Further, thrust was given for setting up teams of volunteers and QRTs squads for making the public aware to curb the practice of underage and delinquent driving besides handling any type of exigency on the roads.
Meanwhile, the DC instructed the district officers for formulation of Road safety Plan 2022-23 and also asked for implementation of Ribbon Development Act (to remove Buildings / dumping material from road side).
He stressed on collective efforts that are required to minimize the road accidents in the entire district.
