POONCH, May 25: The news regarding Mughal Road bus accident in Surankote area of district Poonch, which later proved fake, kept the entire Poonch and Rajouri district Administrations on toes for hours together this afternoon while the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary ordered a Magisterial probe into the matter.
A news which went viral in the social media created uproar in the media, police and administrative circles this evening. The news said that a bus carrying children of a private school from Manjakote in Rajouri met with an accident on Mughal Road, resulting into the death of over 38 to 40 students. The media-persons started confirming the news from the police and civil administration. Even after confirmation by some police officers, some channels and news agencies also aired the news.
The shell shocked parents and relatives of the children from Manjakote and Rajouri rushed to the site in panic. Many of them were found weeping loudly. The police officers from Surankote and Poonch along with medical teams and about a dozen Ambulances rushed to the site of accident. It was also learnt that Army was first to reach there near the site.
DC Poonch, MH Malik, Additional SP Masror Mir also reached there besides SDPO Surankote Asgar Malik and SHO but later they found that there was no accident at all. The bus about which the information was aired was seen approaching towards Surankote and his driver told that they all were safe and sound and nothing happened to them. The Ambulances and police parties besides hundreds of parents and relatives of children also returned later.
Additional SP Poonch, Mir later dismissed the news and said that all the children reached safe and there was no accident at all. He said some mischief mongers had uploaded the fake news on social media and kept the whole administration on toes for hours. He said a case has been registered and the accused will be arrested shortly.
DC Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary while clarifying said that no such accident took place there and all the children and teachers reached home at Manjakote safely this evening. He said that a Magisterial inquiry headed by Additional DC Rajouri, Mumtaz Ali has been ordered. ASP Yousuf Choudhary, ARTO Rajouri, General Manager Telecom and DIO NIC Sanjay Puri are the other Inquiry Committee members. The Committee will also seek assistance from Cyber Wing of the State Police. He said that police has been directed to register an FIR in this regard.
