MENDHAR, Sept 18: Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Nissar Ahmed Wani has ordered the closure of a Bar and Restaurant which was opened in the town here recently.
Official sources said that the District Administration took this decision to close the bar apprehending law and order problem. Many people of the area including Imam of nearby mosque had raised objection over the opening of the bar and its location. They had also given memorandum to the SDM and Tehsildar in this connection. After the public protests, the District Magistrate Poonch issued orders of closure of M/s Sharma Bar and Restaurant Mendhar till further orders. Another bar at BG namely M/s Shah Bar has already been closed following public protest and anger.
The ETO Poonch- Rajouri Range, Sheraz Ahmed has claimed that Excise Department has given valid licenses to the owners of both these bars after seeking NOCs from all concerns and completion of all the required formalities. He said these outlets were opened on September 6 and they are legally valid. Moreover, DC Poonch has asked ADC to hold inquiry into the matter and scrutinize the documents of these Bars.
