Leh, May 14: Deputy Commissioner (DC), Leh, Shrikant Suse, today convened a meeting to review the status of progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Leh district.
During the meeting, SE and Executive Engineer PHE briefed about progress achieved in the district. 34% households in rural areas have been covered in rural areas so far and works are going on in full swing in all the villages. DC Leh reviewed village wise status of Functional Household Tap Connections so far, Tap Water Connections to schools, anganwadi centres, resource mobilization by contractors etc.
Third-Party Inspection Agency (TPIA) was directed to ensure timely on-site inspection of works and material. DC directed SE PHE to ensure regular monitoring of works on ground and act against defaulters if found in terms of quality of works which are being executed.
He directed all SDMs to review progress on regular basis and resolve issues based by JJM team in the villages.
Regarding water quality, he directed the concerned official to test the quality of water of all the new sources being used in JJM and take remedial action if sources not found as per specified parameters.
Discussing about the Grey water management, he directed the concerned officers to ensure timely completion of all the grey water management works at the earliest with active community participation.
Further, he asked the concerned officers to activate Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSC) and regular monitoring of works by them.
