DC Kargil distributes educational tablets among students

KARGIL, Sept 3: Deputy Commissioner (DC) and CEO LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve distributed free educational tablets among the students of 7th to 12th classes of the Government schools of Zanskar Sub Division during a function held at Government Higher Secondary School Padum.
The tablets with pre-loaded educational contents were provided to the students under the YounTab Scheme of the Department of Education UT Ladakh. A total of 301 free educational tablets have been provided by the Education Department Kargil in Zanskar Sub Division so far.
Area Development Officer/Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar Sonam Dorjay, Chief Education Officer Kargil Nazir Ahmad Wani, Principal Government Model Degree College Zanskar Nassir Shabani, Zonal Education Officer Zanskar Tsetan Kunchok, Principal Higher Secondary School Padum, PRI members, other concerned officers, volunteers, besides students of different schools were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner also gave away certificates of appreciation to the 108 volunteers who had extended their voluntary services in the smooth conduct of community classes in the Sub Division during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Santosh Sukhadeve urged the students to make judicious use of the educational tablets which are fully loaded with educational contents on different subjects. He lauded the volunteers for their tireless efforts and support extended to the education department for successful conduct of the community classes which have proved a successful teaching-learning method.
Earlier, the DDC also distributed certificates and medals among the winner and runners up teams of the 3-day inter-school sports tournament organized by the District Youth Services and Sports Department Kargil under Khelo India Sports for Peace and Development. He also distributed uniform sets among the players of the participating teams.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Chief Medical Officer Kargil Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner, while highlighting the importance of sports and games in inculcating the elements of team spirit, physical and mental fitness, equality, brotherhood and leadership qualities, urged the students to maintain a healthy balance between studies and sports besides focusing on their career goals.
