JAMMU, May 21: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh today conducted extensive tour of the offices of SDMs of Akhnoor, Khour, Jammu North, Tehsildars of Akhnoor, Khour, Jourian, Kharrah Bali, Mera Mandrian, Pargwal, Bhalwal and Jammu North.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected all these offices and reviewed the functioning. Mr Singh focused on the functioning of those offices which have been newly created in the recent creation of administrative units.
The SDMs/Tehsildars apprised the DC of their problems which mainly include severe shortages of staff in rural areas, non availability of sufficient accommodation and vehicles.
It was brought to the notice of the DC that the SDMs/Tehsildars, who are important field functionaries, face difficulty in touring and reaching out to people particularly in Khour and Akhnoor which often come under the border firing. Directions were also given to all the Tehsildars of new tehsils to immediately lift their revenue records from the erstwhile tehsils so that the benefit of creation of these units reach the people in true spirit.
The DC also stressed upon the officials to identify suitable land for developing infrastructure of the new units in respect of those which have been functioning in rented buildings. In order to meet the shortages of staff in rural areas, the DC assured to undertake rationalisation of existing staff as an immediate measure.
