JAMMU, Sept 28: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa today visited Sardhan Nallah (Aithen) Bajalta to inspect the condition of the check dam in the area , which was damaged in the recent flood.
The Deputy Commissioner directed SE, I&FC Department to ensure recharging of dug tubewells within two days to reduce scarcity of water in the area.
The District Mineral Officer was asked to immediately remove the illegal dumps of sand and other material to save further damage to the water body.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the AEE, R&B to prepare an estimate plan for Sardhan Nallah road to avoid any inconvenience to the people of the area.
DMO Jammu Gulshan Kumar, SE, I & FC Department, Sarpanch, Sardhan Nallah, Shobha Rani and officials of concerned departments were also present during the visit.
Meanwhile, Avny Lavasa launched the Solid Waste Management Plan in Panchayat Dhok Waziran of Block Nagrota.
During the programme, Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of Block Officers and Sarpanch towards sensitizing people regarding waste segregation and household composting to reduce environmental impact of garbage dumping and creation of landfills.
In alignment with this outlook, the Deputy Commissioner gifted a garbage collecting e-rickshaw sponsored by Puri Oil Mills Ltd. towards “Swachhta Hi Seva” initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission- Phase-II.
The battery-powered E-Garbage Vans will offer an environment –friendly way to collect segregated solid waste from individual households and take them to waste collection and segregation centres.
She also inspected the Agarbatti making unit run by a local female Self Help Group. She assured the public representatives that the District Administration was committed towards resolving their issues.
AC Panchayat Jammu, Meenakshi Vaid; DPO Jammu Urvi Singh; BDO Nagrota Shalini Raina; Puri Oil Mills representative Ishal Garg; Sarpanch Panchayat Dhok Waziran Raman Wazir were also present in the programme.
