Leh, Dec 7: Deputy Commissioner, Tsering Angchok, on Friday chaired the meeting of District Level Review Committee meeting of bankers of Leh for the quarter ended September 2012.
Addressing the meeting, the DC urged upon the bankers and departments to work in close coordination so that loans could be provided to the unemployed youth and weaker sections of the district in time. He asked the bankers and concerned departments to lend maximum credit to the farmers and focus on issuance of Kissan Credit Cards. He also instructed them to conduct regular visits to the villages and organize awareness camps to benefit the farmers community.
Earlier, Branch Manager SBI TCA, Leh, Kulbushan Gupta apprised the meeting that the CD ratio for the district stands at 21.17% with an increase of approximately 2% over the previous quarter and stands well in comparison with the CD ratio at the State level which is 37.54%. The ratio of agriculture advances to total advances is 9.08% of the banks in the district against a national target of 18%. This ratio stood at 5.86% in the previous quarter and the marked improvement is due to coordinated and concerned efforts of all the concerned agencies. The progress under KCC scheme stands at 54.11% up to the 2nd quarter.
Gupta also apprised in detail the performance of banks in Leh in terms of deposits, advances, achievements of government schemes like JKSES, PMEGP, SGGY, ST/SC, SHG, SCC and SJSRY.
