JAMMU, Jan 2: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today issued certain directions in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding mushroom growth of bar and wine shops in the City of Temples.
After hearing Advocate Suhasni Vasisatha appearing for the PIL whereas Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal Ganai appearing for the State, DB observed, “the grievance of the petitioners now is that some wine shops and bars are running nearer to the location of educational, religious, old age homes, orphanages and health institutions”.
“For removal of all the wine shops and bars, the petitioners have to identify the wine shops, which are located near the schools or religious places and if any such representation is submitted by the petitioners before the concerned authority, the said authority is directed to take action under law”, the DB said.
“If no action is taken, it is open to the petitioners to approach this court again”, the DB said while disposing off the PIL.
