DB’s directives in PIL on artificial lake, gondola

JAMMU, July 2: In the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Inderjeet Khajuria, President All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association regarding inordinate delay in artificial lake and gondola projects, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today issued various directions to the State.
After hearing Senior Advocate BS Salathia assisted by Advocate Meenakshi Salathia appearing for the PIL, the DB observed, “Senior AAG Seema Shekhar appearing for the State has submitted that she has filed the status report in terms of earlier order. However, the status report is not on court record”.
Accordingly, Division Bench issued directions for placing on record decisions taken in the meeting dated 29.04.2015.
Division Bench granted two weeks time to Senior AAG SS Nanda appearing for the JMC to file comprehensive statement detailing therein the extent of encroachment, identifying the encroachers and steps taken to remove the encroachers as also to prevent encroachment as also municipal waste dumping on the river banks.
Division Bench also directed JMC to specify the period during which the encroachments have been made on the river banks with a view to pin the responsibility on the concerned officers, who permitted the encroachments to be made and failed to take action.
