JAMMU, Dec 30: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by CB Salathia seeking direction to stop the illegal saw mill being run in connivance with official respondents, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi today directed the Forest Department to file status report by tomorrow.
After hearing Advocate Meharban Singh appearing for the PIL whereas Government Advocate GS Thakur for the State, the DB observed, “according to the affidavit filed by SSP Samba, the Forest Department had fixed November 22, 2013 for dismantling the saw mill and sought police help. On the appointed day and time, the Forest Department did not reach”, adding “the conduct of Forest Department is not appreciable particularly where there are allegations of connivance of its officials with private respondent”.
With these observations, DB directed the Forest Department to file status report by tomorrow.
