Srinagar, Dec 30: Thousands of people for the fourth consecutive day today protested in Wagoora area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district against the shifting of Tehsil office from the area to neighbouring Kreeri area in this North Kashmir district.
Over 8, 000 people including women assembled for a day-long protest at Wagoora Chowk early in the morning and marched towards the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway to register their protest. However, the march was cut short after Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Khawaja Ghulam Ahmad and top police officials assured the people that the Government would revoke the decision.
“I told the protestors not to block the highway. This is a High Court order, they should approach the court. But their protest will be conveyed to the higher authorities,” Khawaja told Excelsior
However, the protesters said they would continue their peaceful protest till Government revokes the “biased and politically motivated” order.
