JAMMU, Oct 25: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) today appealed the Governor to declare festivals of Karva Chauth and Bhai Dooj as State holiday for women employees working in various departments of the State Government and public/private sector under Negotiable Instrument Act so that women employees could celebrate these two very important festivals with fervor.
“These festivals not only have deep culture significance, but also symbols of women empowerment and by these Indian society has been recognizing the importance of women folk”, DBPS president, Ved Parkash, said this while addressing a meeting of Sabha members. Sharma hoped that Governor Satya Pal Malik would consider the demand of DBPS and declare State holiday for women folk in these two festivals.
He further also disclosed that a deputation of DBPS would meet Railway Minister Piyush Goel very shortly and urged him for running of special train on Jammu-Allahabad link to accommodate huge number of pilgrims from Jammu & Kashmir in the upcoming religious congregation of Ardh Kumbh Mela beginning at Prayagraj from January 14 to February 13, 2019.
“Lakhs of devotees from Jammu & Kashmir State who regard participation in the Kumbh Mela as once in the lifetime opportunity, find it very difficult to reach the hallowed destination at the Kumbh which has the most religious significance, due to lack of direct train,” he said.
Sharma also requested Satya Pal Malik to recommend to the Centre for immediate setting up of Minority Commission in J&K so that a long pending demand of minorities is fulfilled.
Among others present on the occasion were VM Magotra, Satya Nand Sharma, Advocate PC Sharma, Subash Shastri, Jagan Nath Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Gurdas Sharma, KL Sharma, Sat Pal Sharma, Madan Lal Sharma and Nanak Chand Sharma.
