DB seeks ATR on implementation of FSSA

JAMMU, Oct 27: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Alok Aradhe has directed State to file Action Taken Report (ATR) within three weeks regarding steps taken to implement Food Safety and Standard Act.
The direction was passed after Advocate General D C Raina assured the court that all necessary steps will be taken to implement the Act.
“The Government is serious about the issue. I have personally examined the matter. Every step will be taken to implement the Act,” Advocate General said and assured the court that Action Taken Report will be filed within three weeks.
DB directed Registry to list the matter for further consideration on November 19. Meanwhile, the court took on record an affidavit by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety for district Srinagar stating that enforcement officers can seal any premises in the interest of public health where the manufactured food appears to be unsafe for human consumption.
