JAMMU, Apr 9: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by SOS International and others seeking various directions to Municipal Committee Katra and others, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice M A Mir and Justice D S Thakur today issued notice to Chief Secretary and others.
The petitioners have sought quashment of orders relating to the enhancement of rates for use of ponies, pithoos and palkies by the pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, restraining Municipal Committee Katra and its Executive Officer from collecting fee/tax from the pilgrims for use of pony, pithoos and palki and enquiry by an independent agency into the functioning of Municipal Committee.
After hearing counsels for petitioners, DB issued notice to the respondents with the directions to file objections within two weeks.
