JAMMU, June 7: In a Public Interest Litigation seeking conversation, preservation and protection of water bodies and seasonal nullahs after setting the natural recourses free from land grabbers, forest mafia, criminals and other miscreants, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat issued notice to Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretaries of Revenue, Forest, Irrigation and Flood Control, Housing and Urban Development and Horticulture Departments, Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Samba and Kathua and directed them to file response within four weeks.
The DB also directed the respondents to ensure that the ponds are not encroached upon and the demarcated forest area is protected.
The directions were issued by the DB after hearing Advocate Rajinder Singh Jamwal appearing for the PIL.
