JAMMU, Nov 10: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Ravinder Shan and others regarding irregularities committed in the implementation of National Mission on Saffron, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today issued notice to Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar and others.
After hearing Advocate Rajeshwari Katoch, DB observed, “the matter pertains to implementation of National Mission on Saffron in Jammu division during 2012-13 and according to the allegations made on behalf of farmers in the area of Kishtwar, gross irregularities have been committed in the implementation of the programme and huge amount is alleged to have been misappropriated”.
“Due to this the benefit of programme has not reached the farmers for whom it was meant for”, the DB said and issued notice to Saffron Development Officer of District Kishtwar, Chief Agriculture Officer Kishtwar and District Development Commission Kishtwar with the direction to file reply before next date of hearing.
