JAMMU, Nov 19: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by differently abled practicing lawyer Surat Singh seeking in-depth probe into the sexual exploitation of mentally challenged girls in Rotary Inner Wheels Home at Channi Rama, Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi today expressed dis-satisfaction over the status report filed in the shape of affidavit of Deputy Commissioner Jammu.
“The status report doesn’t show who is performing day to day duties by staying in the Rotary Inner Wheel Home at Channi Rama”, the DB said in the open court, adding “there should be a female manager in the home and she should be directly answerable to the District Magistrate”.
Upon this, Senior Additional Advocate General, Gagan Basotra, who along with Deputy AG Neeru Goswami was appearing for the official respondents prayed for a week’s time for filing affidavit of District Magistrate in this regard. The DB, while considering the prayer of Senior AAG, directed the Registry to list the PIL on November 27, 2013.
Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed appeared for the PIL.
