JAMMU, Dec 20: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Inderjeet Khajuria, President All Hotels and Lodges Association Jammu regarding delay in creation of Artificial Lake, a Division Bench of High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Rajesh Sekri has enhanced by Rs 10000 the cost imposed on Commissioner/ Secretary, Irrigation, Flood Control & PHE Department.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, DB observed, “vide order dated 28.10.2020 opportunity was granted to the respondents to file the status report subject to the payment of personal costs of Rs 15,000 by the Commissioner Secretary, Irrigation, Flood Control & PHE Department, however, the Registry has not reported with regard to depositing of the costs”.
The DB directed Registry to verify whether the costs have been deposited or not and in case the same is not deposited the costs shall be enhanced to an additional amount of Rs 10,000, i.e, total Rs 25,000, which shall be paid by or before the next date of hearing.
The DB also directed AAG to file latest status report.
