97 kanals land at Nagrota for cattle pound

JAMMU, Mar 1: Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan has directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to take steps for construction of boundary wall of adequate height with proper reinforcements on the top to ensure that there is no encroachment of the land measuring 97 kanals and 11 marlas in village Seri Khurd, tehsil Nagrota, which has been earmarked for construction of the cattle pound.
After hearing Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed with Advocates Rahul Raina, Supriya Chouhan and Mohd Zulker Nain Chowdhary for the petitioner, the Division Bench further directed that a status report regarding the construction of the boundary wall supported by photographs shall be placed before the Division Bench on next date of hearing.
These directions were passed in the much publicised PIL filed by SAVE (Save Animals Value Environment), an NGO working for the welfare of the Animals through its Chairperson, Devinder Kour Madaan alias Rumpy Madaan seeking directions for construction of a modern cattle pound for rehabilitation of the stray cattle.
The Division Bench also directed Jammu Municipal Corporation to place before the court the timeline of the steps to be taken regarding the development of the cattle pound and the dates on which they would be completed. The Division Bench also directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation to file a status report regarding the RFID tagging of the cattle before the next date of hearing.
