JAMMU, Jan 9: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding better facilities in Government hospitals, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Kumar has directed the Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education Department to file affidavit within four weeks or appear in person.
After hearing Advocate Parveen Kapahi for the PIL whereas Deputy AG Sanjeev Padha for the State, the DB observed, “the affidavit, which was supposed to be filed by the Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, has not been filed”.
“The affidavit shall clearly indicate as to whether all the departments in the Government Medical College, Jammu have adequate doctors with regard to each specialty. It shall also indicate as to whether all the equipments necessary for each specialty are available and functioning. The same shall also be done for other hospitals within Jammu city”, the DB said.
“The affidavit shall also indicate the number of ambulances, which are available in Jammu city, whether Government or private. This will include critical care ambulances, if at all. The affidavit shall also indicate, as to whether the medicines and the surgical supplies are available in the hospitals”, the DB further directed.
