JAMMU, Feb 12: Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today disposed of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding irregularities in implementation of National Mission on Saffron with the direction to the Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production Department to consider the report of the committee forwarded by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and arrive at a decision within a period of four weeks.
After hearing Advocate Rajeshwari Katoch for the PIL whereas AAG HA Siddiqui appearing for the State, DB observed, “in response to the notice issued by this court, a status report has been filed by the respondents wherein it has been stated that the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar constituted a committee of three officials vide order dated 04.12.2014 and the enquiry committee conducted a preliminary enquiry into the implementation of scheme in village Pochhal”.
“The committee has submitted the report to the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, who in turn has forwarded the same to the Commissioner Secretary, Agriculture Production Department on 05.01.2015”, the DB observed, adding “the report is now under the consideration of the Agriculture Production Department and the appropriate orders will be passed”.
“If the petitioners are still not satisfied with the reply given and have any grievance against disbursement of incentives to the un-deserved persons, the remedy is open to them to approach the authorities concerned for taking criminal action against the concerned officer(s)/official(s)”, the DB said while disposing of the PIL.
The DB directed Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production Department to consider the report of the committee forwarded by the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar and arrive at a decision within a period of four weeks.
