DB directs authorities to file compliance report

JAMMU, Apr 29: In a PIL filed by advocates Ashish Sharma and Deepak Singh Balouria against unplanned digging and frequent traffic jams in Jammu city, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar today directed the concerned authorities to file compliance report.
“The compliance reports as were required to be filed by various authorities in terms of earlier order have not been filed”, the DB observed.
Vide order dated April 3, 2014 the DB had observed that approximate expenditure incurred for preparing the roads for blacktopping by ERA, have not been revealed in the status report as also the nature and quality of work which is undertaken by the ERA before handing over the roads for blacktopping/macadamization.
“Various agencies like PWD (R&B), NBCC, Municipal Corporation are involved in the work of blacktopping. The thickness of the blacktopping and the approximate age to which it could last as per the stipulations in the contract agreement have also not been highlighted”, the DB had further observed with the direction to the Divisional Commissioner to furnish all the details along with relevant documents.
However, there was no compliance of the orders and Division Bench today directed the concerned authorities to ensure filing of requisite compliance report by or before next date.
