JAMMU, Nov 6: Senior vice president BJP, Yudhvir Sethi today said that the days of Hurriyat calendar are now over in Kashmir and henceforth Vijeshwar calendar will be released there.
Addressing a function organized by Pir Panchal a socio, cultural organization here in connection with release of annual Dharmic Calendar on the name of Krishna Jyothsi and Lalita Sahastarnam published by Avtar Krishen Jyotshi, BJP leader said that our efforts are that annual Vijeshwar Panchang should now be released from its ancestral place Bijbehara in future.
Sethi highlighted the role of Pir Panchal in social , cultural and sports field and said the organization has done an immense work in creating a social awakening among the people living in Pir Panchal belt by cautioning them against the inimical forces who are hell bent to delink them from their age old culture.
He also recalled the role of Vijeshwar Panchang which he said is not a mere almanac but a complete dharmic granth. He said the Jyotshi Parivar of Bijbehara has been serving the KP community for over 300 years and it will continue to do so.
In his address K K Sidha, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner who was the chief guest said his organization is always ready to support those social and cultural organizations which are working among the migrants. He expressed the hope that Pir Panchal will redouble its efforts in creating awareness among the displaced youth about their rich culture and traditions. He cautioned the community not to forget its culture and rich past. He said that KPs survived despite facing many odds and upheavals for centuries as they believe in universal wellbeing and welfare of humanity as a whole.
He also threw light on the religious and historical background of Tirath Raj Martand and Panchang.
In his welcome address Ramesh Hangloo president, Pir Panchal gave a background of working of his organization and said that his organization has now started holding cultural events in the entire Pir Panchal belt like Dudu Basantgarh, Brala in Sangaldan and Gool Arnas. He also highlighted the role of Radio Sharda in this regard.
Swami Kumar Ji while speaking besides highlighting the role Vijeshwar Panchang also commended Pir Panchal for taking various initiatives to keep the age old culture of Kashmir alive. He also threw light on Shrimad Bhagwat Gita and said that it is a complete guide to spirituality.
Avtar Krishan Jyotshi read the vote of thanks. He said Kashmir is a dharmic land and every Kashmiri should stand for over 5000 year old dharmic values. The stage was managed by Kusum Tickoo. Pardeep Sharma a social activist and Kamal Ganjoo were among others present.
