Darbar move employees allege discrimination

JAMMU, Jan 6: Darbar Move Employees Federation (Non-Sectt) has alleged discrimination against them from the State authorities.
In a meeting of the Federation held at Press Club today under the chairmanship of State president DMEF, Ovais Wani, the members expressed strong resentment over the attitude of the State authorities. They said that despite several representations, no cognizance has been taken by the concerned authorities.
Ovais lashed out at the State Government for the step motherly treatment with the Non-Secretariat Darbar move employees. He warned the State Government against the discriminatory policies adopted by it for a set of employees. He said there are about 4.50 lakh employees working under State Government but from years it has been seen that 1100 GAD employees (Secretariat service) are being given preference in each and every field whether it is accommodation, promotion or any other benefit. He said DEMF demands equal treatment for all.
Wani said recently J&K Bank has signed a MoU with State Government by virtue of which 1100 GAD employees have been provided more preference by way of discount on interest rates. The benefit is being provided to 1100 GAD employees only and rest 4.39 lakh state employees have been ignored. He said regarding promotion for GAD 1100 employees, there are 172 Under Secretary level posts for promotion from SO to Undersecretary & for outside 30,000 Clerical Staff of J&K State Govtt there are only 68 Administrative officer posts and even among these 68 posts most of these posts are also occupied by these GAD employees through deputation. Due share be provided to the clerical cadre, he added.
The meeting was also attended by Khurshid Ahmad senior vice president DMEF, Gh Rasool Paul -State vice president, Tufail Ahmad State general secretary, Tanveer Ahmad chief organiser, Nazir Ahmad Khan, NA Bhat , Bilal Ahmad Lone and Irshad -ul- Hamid.
