SRINAGAR, May 21: Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today visited Ziyarat Shah Wali at Kupwara and took stock of the facilities at the shrine.
This was the first tour of Dr Andrabi to Kupwara district after taking over as the Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board. After paying obeisance at the shrine, Dr Darakhshan took stock of the facilities and discussed future projects for improvement with the Waqf Administrator and the staff during a meeting in the shrine campus.
Later, she met many public delegations and received feedback from people about the working of Waqf in the district and also noted down the suggestions given by people for improving the facilities at shrine of Hazrat Shah Wali and at other Waqf managed shrines.
Dr Andrabi assured the people that the new Waqf Board will restore the glory of these spiritual centers with utmost transparency throughout J&K. “The shrine of Hazrat Shah Wali is a significant place of people’s belief and faith in North Kashmir and we will take necessary steps to update and create basic facilities at the shrine. I thank the people of Kupwara who assured me of their huge donations for shrines-development in the days to come,” said Andrabi.
She said that restoration of the faith among masses about the honest use of donations in Waqf is the priority of the newly constituted Board. “We still have people who are ready to donate for the glorification of spiritual centers here but we have to create transparency in the Waqf system of working and we have started taking very significant decisions in this regard,” Andrabi said.
BJP Organizational Secretary for North Kashmir Mudasir Wani was also accompanying Dr Andrabi during the tour. Later, she interacted with police and district administration representatives.
