SRINAGAR, June 30: Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of Union Ministry of Minority Affairs today called on Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore at Delhi and held a detailed discussion with the Minister.
Dr Andrabi raised the issue of the recently issued notification regarding Commissioned Programmes of Kashir Channel by which almost all the local private producers and Production Houses have been deprived of the opportunity to work for the channel. She informed the minister that due to the corruption in the channel during the previous regimes, the commissioned programmes for Kashir Channel were banned some years ago which resulted in the joblessness of hundreds of producers and thousands of people associated with the television production industry.
“The talented people associated with the television industry suffered for years because of the failure of the system in the channel and now when the window for commissioned programmes has been opened by I&B Ministry, the conditions have been set in a way which again disqualify almost all of these local producers from the scheme,” Darakhshan said.
The Minister assured Dr Andrabi that he will take up the issue on priority and see that injustice is not done to the J&K producers on the basis of changed criteria.
