NEW DELHI, Apr 27: Senior BJP leader from Kashmir, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi has been appointed as Chairperson of the Waqf Development Committee by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs.
An official spokesman said that in a reshuffle in the assignments of the members of the Committee here today, Union Ministry of Minority Affairs appointed Dr Darakhshan Andrabi as the new Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of the Ministry, in place of Mohammad Ali Khan, Member Rajya Sabha.
Dr Andrabi has been relieved of her assignment in the Education & Women Welfare Committee. Ministry issued a memorandum in this regard on Tuesday. Rais Khan Pathan has replaced Dr Andrabi in Education & Women Welfare Committee.
This is the second pivotal assignment of Dr Darakhshan Andrabi in the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Dr Andrabi said that the Ministry has initiated a nation-wide programme to assimilate Waqf assets throughout the country and streamline their management. She claimed that she will try to put in her best efforts to the Ministry’s mission. Dr Andrabi extended gratitude to the Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi for reposing faith on her and according this new assignment.
