‘Dangal’ continues strong run in China, becomes 1st Bollywood film to earn Rs 1,000-cr worldwide

NEW DELHI:  Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ continued its strong run in China and has become the first Bollywood film to enter the Rs 1,000-crore club, trade sources said.

Dangal’s collections in China on its second Saturday were double than its earnings on its first Saturday, trade sources said.  Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ has now crossed the Rs 1,000-crore-mark worldwide, the second Indian film to do so after ‘Baahubali-2’ and the first Bollywood film to achieve this mark.

Dangal’s worldwide collections approximately stand at Rs 1,045-crore at the worldwide box office now.

This is the highest earning for an Aamir Khan film ever.

The film, which released in China last week, has been enjoying a great buzz in China.

The film’s huge collections in China indicate that it could well cross the Rs 1,200-crore mark set by ‘Baahubali-2’.  A biopic on the life of Olympian wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, ‘Dangal’ is about how he trains his daughters to become world-class wrestlers.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film also starred Fatima Sana Sheikh, Sanya Malhotra and Sakshi Tanwar in lead roles. (AGENCIES)
