UDHAMPUR, Sept 14: Locals of Dandyal, Indira Colony, Jojerran Da Talab, Madal, Partap Nagar and Teeran Mohalla held a strong protest demonstration against District Administration and PHE Department for no drinking water supply to the area from last ten days.
Demonstration was led by senior Congress leader and INTUC State secretary Sumeet Magotra. Demonstrators were raising slogans against District Administration and the concerned authorities of PHE Department.
While addressing the gathering, Sumeet Magotra said it was unfortunate that despite these villages being near to the Udhampur town, the PHE authorities have failed to supply drinking water from last ten days. “It is more unfortunate that the authorities concerned have even failed to supply drinking water through water tankers despite repeatedly requests,” he said.
Magotra warned the authorities that if they fail to restore the supply of drinking water in these villages within two days, the people would hold a demonstration outside the office of Deputy Commissioner.
Others, who addressed the protest demonstration, included Lacho Ram, Shiv Ram Panch, Bimla Devi Panch, Jano Begum, Inayet Ulla, Kaku Ram, Munshi Ram and Jeevan Sharma.
