KARGIL, July 21: District Administration Kargil today extended a grand welcome to the 14th Dalai Lama on his arrival in Zanskar.
CEC Leh, Tashi Gyalson; Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil for Zanskar Affairs, Punchok Tashi; Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar; SSP Kargil, Shree Ram R; ASP, Kargil, Nitin Yadav; SDM Zanskar, Mohd Hassan; representatives of Zanskar Buddhist Association, Zanskar Gonpa Association, IKMT Kargil, Anjuman-e-Sahib Zamaan, Anjuman-e-Moinul Islam Zanskar and thousands of devotees and followers from across India and abroad were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering at Photang Karsha, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar described Dalai Lama as a spiritual beacon of compassion, wisdom and peace and highlighted that his teachings transcend borders, inspiring not just the Buddhist community but humanity at large by promoting harmony, non-violence and inner transformation.
The Dalai Lama also addressed the gathering and shared the message of peace and spiritual growth.
He emphasized the deep harmony and mutual respect among religious communities in Zanskar and said, “Time is always moving on and nothing can stop it. The more compassionate you are, the more you will find inner peace.”
The visit of Dalai Lama is part of the ongoing Zanskar Kargan Summer Philosophical Symposium 2025, which aims to foster dialogue on spiritual philosophy, ethics and interfaith harmony.
