LEH, June 28: Grand reception was given on arrival of the Buddhist spiritual head and the 14th Dalai Lama in Leh city here this morning.
Tibetan spiritual leader (Dalai Lama) will stay for a month in Ladakh and  also attend the Buddhist Summer Council known as `Yarchos Chenmo’ in Nobra.  As his motor cavalcade moved from KBR Airport terminal towards his official residence Jeve-Tsal, hundreds of devotees including foreigners, students stood across the road to welcome the Buddhist spiritual leader.

Addressing the devotees at Jevel-Tsal Photang, Dalai Lama stressed upon the need of understanding the religion rather than following with blind faith. “Buddha himself taught us that my follower should not accept my teaching out of faith rather through investigation and experiment should be done before accepting it” said Dalai Lama while referring to Buddha’s teaching.
He also added that if one follows Buddha dharma teaching out of faith, then one cannot predict how long it would survive but if the Buddha teaching follow after understanding and analyzing,  it then it will last for another few centuries.
Mentioning about emotion crisis in the modern world leading to drugs abuse Dalai Lama added emotion is a part of our mind and there is potential in our mind to tackle emotions and it is applicable to all whether one is believer or non-believer, said Dalai Lama.
He further divulged that his commitment is to revive the ancient Indian knowledge and if this knowledge is combined with modern science and technology,  it would help to understand our inner mind in better way. He said that only India has the ability to combine ancient Indian knowledge with modern Science and Technology. He also emphasised upon including education about mind, logic and hygiene of mind in academic activities.
Meanwhile, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today met Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama at Leh and offered prayers at the Thikse monastery.
Prabhu, who laid the foundation stone for the final location survey of the 498-km-long Bilaspur-Manali-Leh railway line at Leh on Tuesday, also offered his obeisance at the Pathar Saheb Gurudwara near Leh.
“Pleasure to be in the divine presence of Dalai Lama on my visit to Leh,” Prabhu tweeted after meeting the spiritual leader. The all-weather Leh rail network is one of the four important railway connectivities identified by the Defence Ministry along the China border and is a strategically vital project for the country.
