KATHUA, Dec 9: The activists of Akali Dal Amritsar and Dal Khalsa from Punjab who were on their way to Kashmir to participate in a protest on the eve of Human Rights Day tomorrow were stopped at Lakhanpur and returned to Punjab by district administration today.
They were not allowed to enter J&K Union Territory to disturb the peace. The activists of Akali Dal Amritsar Maan group a hardliner group and Dal Khalsa activists wanted to proceed to Kashmir to sit on dharna on International Human Right Day tomorrow to raise the voice in favour of Kashmiri people to withdraw the restrictions and release of arrested leaders.
Following the situation the UT Government deployed huge numbers of security personnel led by Additional SP, Ramnish Gupta, SHO, Lakhanpur, Bharat Sharma and Magistrate Kapil Kant at Gateway of J&K at Lakhanpur. The marchers were stopped and sent back to Punjab. The activists also displayed the placards and highlighted the demands in favour of separatists as numbers of restriction are made on them during the last four months said Paramjit Singh , general secretary, Dal Khalsa.
He said “we want to raise voice in support of Kashmir people on the International Human Rights Day at Lal Chowk Srinagar, tomorrow”. The Akali Dal Amritsar leader Mohan Singh alleged that it is violation of humans rights that we were not allowed to go to Kashmir. “We always raised voice in favour of such people who are denied rights by the Government”. He demanded referendum on Kashmir issue. So that they may get justice and Government stop the atrocities on Kashmiri people. After raising their demands, the activist moved back to Punjab.
The Magistrate Kapil Kant said that they were not allowed to enter in UT following the situation and on the directives of Government. He said that the situation in J&K UT is normal and Government will allow anyone to disrupt the peace in the UT.
