Daily wagers threaten to go on indefinite strike

JAMMU, Aug 26: All Jammu and Kashmir Daily Wagers Union has threatened to go on indefinite strike if their demands, which stand already approved by Government, are not met before the commencement of Cabinet meeting.
In a meeting of the district presidents of the Union held here today, Provincial president, Kulvir Singh Rakwal, said that last year on the assurances of Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Devender Singh Rana, besides Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Viyas, Commission Secretary GAD, Power and Finance, DCP Power and all Chief engineers of PDD, the Union had called off their 61-day long strike.
“It was amicably decided then that all their demands will be met before March 31, 2012 and the wages of need based workers will be dispersed before February 28, 2012, but despite lapses of six months, nothing has been done, so we have decided to go on indefinite strike after this Cabinet meeting”, said Rakhwal.
It was also informed that State President, All J&K PDD Daily Wagers Union, Tarun Gupta, has been removed from his post due to his anti-Union activities.
