JAMMU, Dec 17: The daily rated, ITI trained and Community Participation (CP) workers of PHE Department today held a strong protest demonstration outside Chief Engineer’s office at B C Road here today.
A large number of workers of the department under the banner of  All J&K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers Association (Jammu province), led by Tanveer Hussain assembled at B C Road PHE complex in the morning and started protest demonstration. It was followed by day long protest dharna. Hundreds of workers from various Divisions and Sub Divisions participated in the protest dharna.
The protest programme was launched against the Government for its failure to resolve their pending issues which included regularization, non- release of the wages of workers for the last over three years, non-clearance of pending land cases and wages of CP workers and need base workers. They were shouting slogans against senior officers of the department, Minister for  PHE Sukhnandan Choudhary and Finance Minister.
While addressing workers Tanveer Hussain said that on October 11, 2015 State Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu assured the agitating workers that Govt would fulfill the demands of the workers   shortly but nothing happened thereafter. The workers are being forced by the Government to resort to the agitational path. Even the PHE minister had given assurances in this regard, he added.
He warned the Government to intensify their struggle in the entire State if the Government failed to address their pending issues within one week. He said that Association would decide next course of action on December 25.
Prominent among those present/ spoke on the occasion included Deepak Gupta, Subash Chander, Manjeet Singh, Jeevan Singh, Pawan Kumar, Bhushan Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Tilak Rak and Manmohan Singh.
