JAMMU, Mar 22: The Departmental Affairs Committee of the Political Science Department in the University of Jammu has recommended the removal of topics concerning Mohd Ali Jinnah, Syed Ahmad Khan and Mohd Iqbal from the course content of two-year PG Programme in Political Science.
According to a handout, issued by the HoD Political Science, the Departmental Affairs Committee (DAC) meeting was held today to deliberate upon certain issues raised concerning the syllabus of the One-year and Two-Year MA Programme in Political Science as per the guidelines of NEP-2020.
After a through consideration, the committee unanimously resolved to recommend the removal of topics concerning Mohd Ali Jinnah, Syed Ahmad khan and Mohd Iqbal from the course content of PIPSTC 102 of the one-year Postgraduate Programme and course content of P2PSTC 302 of the Two-year PG programme in Political Science to the Board of Studies for its consideration.
The meeting of Board of Studies (BOS) is scheduled on March 24 at 11:30 Am through online mode to further deliberate on the matter.
Pertinent to mention that only Board of Studies is empowered to review academic content of specialized subjects through departmental committees.
Earlier, the University of Jammu had constituted a committee to examine the issue concerning inclusion of a chapter on Muhammad Ali Jinnah and others in the revised PG Political Science syllabus in the University following protests by ABVP activists.
