Cyber Police busts gang of fraudsters, 8 including kingpin arrested

JAMMU, Dec 25: In a major breakthrough, Cyber Police Jammu busted a gang of fraudsters by arresting 8 persons including kingpin during a raid in Alwar district of Rajasthan.
As per official sources, on December 8 this year, a complaint was received at Cyber Police Station Jammu lodged by a person namely Dr Sanjib Kumar Baishya, son of late Pabitra Kumar Baishya of 26, Mall Apartments, Mall Road, Delhi-110054 wherein complainant alleged that unknown fraudster impersonating himself as an officer of CISF working in Guwahati, Assam posted his photo in uniform, contact details alongwith few pictures of household items for sale on Quikr online platform. Being interested in buying the items, the complainant contacted the fraudsters and consequently lost his hard earned money.
Acting over this, a case under FIR Number 39/2021 under Sections 66-D of IT Act r/w 420 and 120-B IPC got registered at Cyber Police Station Jammu and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, transactions involved were scrutinized, registration details of Quikr advertisement were obtained and accordingly based on location of the fraudsters, it was ascertained that these fraudsters are operating from different areas of Alwar city of Rajasthan.
Accordingly, a team of Cyber Police Station Jammu comprised of Inspector Vikram Sharma, Investigating Officer of the instant case under the supervision of DySP Cyber Priyanka kumari and overall directions and guidelines of SP Cyber Naresh Singh, rushed to Alwar, Rajasthan.
After strenuous efforts with the help of local police, Cyber Police team succeeded in nabbing 8 accused including kingpin from Alwar District of Rajasthan. Mobile handsets and other evidences were also recovered during the raid.
The arrested accused were identified as Mousam Khan and Arish Khan, sons of Rehman Khan, Manish Khan, Soket Khan, Irfan Khan, Mustaq Khan and Sahib Khan, all resident of Village Kakrali Alwar, Rajasthan and Asif Khan, son of Sirda of Garhi Mewat District Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
SP Naresh Singh said further investigation is going on to ascertain the involvement of accused in other online fraud cases.
Pertinent to mention here that, this strenuous and hammered action by Cyber Police Station, Jammu tighten noose of the cyber criminals who are targeting innocent people of JK UT.
