Cyber Cell solves online financial fraud

JAMMU, Mar 27: The Cyber Cell of District Police Jammu today claimed to have solved a financial fraud amounting to Rs 50000.
A police spokesperson said that a complaint was lodged by one Harbans Lal son of Romita Choudhary of Suchetgarh wherein he claimed that he received a call from an unknown number pretending to be a Sub-Inspector of Himachal Pradesh Police.
The complainant, as per the police spokesperson, further disclosed that the unknown caller told him that his nephew was implicated in a false case in Himachal Pradesh and to facilitate his release, the fraudster demanded a sum of Rs 50000.
According to him, the complainant transferred Rs 50000 in one transaction into the account of the fraudster.
When the complainant got to know that he was duped, he filed a complaint with the cyber cell and accordingly, the Cyber Cell Jammu got Rs 49000 out of Rs 50000 put on hold through the concerned bank.
The police spokesperson said that further investigation into the case is underway.
