CWA deputation meets Health Minister

JAMMU, Apr 11: A deputation of Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) comprising Vikram Gour president, BM Kohli, vice president and Ashok Koul, general secretary, met Ch Lal Singh, Minister for Health and Medical Education, to discuss various health related problems being faced by the patients.
The Minister was informed that CWA members have been visiting various hospitals and trying to gather information regarding existing working conditions vis-a-vis facilities being provided to the patients.
The deputation invited Minister’s attention to various issues including improvement in health facilities in Super Specialty Hospital by way of providing additional specialists and technicians,
availability of medicines and other medical equipment including syringes and hand gloves at least in emergency wards.
Other issues raised by the deputation included provision of generic medicines in all hospitals and the prescription of these medicines by the doctors, providing specialists and required equipment including ventilators and dialysis machines in district hospitals to reduce load on the main Hospitals, monitoring of fee structure for private practice of doctors, ensuring registration of private nursing homes, clinics and pathological labs, etc.
The minister gave a patient hearing to the problems raised by the deputation and issued on spot instructions for forwarding the issues raised by CWA to the concerned authorities for appropriate action and assured that CWA will be informed within a week regarding the action taken.
