Cutting across party lines people assure support to Sanmaan yatra

JAMMU, Nov 8: Cutting across the community and party lines, several leaders and prominent citizens have expressed their support to forth coming “Sanmaan Yatra” from New Delhi to Anandpur Sahab in Punjab to pay reverences to Sikh Gurus and also to further strengthen “Hindu-Sikh” unity.
The yatra, which would commence from Sheshgang Gurdwara in New Delhi on January 3, next year will not only carry message of “Hindu-Sikh” unity but would also depict that Sikh are our army to protect and unite all Hindus, said a noted film actress & social activist Priti Sapru Walia at a Semiar organized by Vishwa Kashmiri Pandit Samaj (VKPS) here.
Stating that she is a proud Kashmiri Brahmin, having married in Sikh community, Priti emphasized the need for this yatra. “This long awaited yatra would be a thanks giving to a Guru who laid his entire family’s life to save Kashmiri Brahmin Community”, she said and emphasized the need for communities to come together to eradicate evils.
In his welcome address, the convenor of VKPS Kiran Watal said that these Yatras would continue in future as well for awareness among the people regarding the sacrifices made by Sikh Gurus for others. He said the Kashmiri Pandit community must never forget the sacrifices of Guru Teg Bahadur Singh Ji and his disciples for Hindus in the year of 1675.
Speakers at the seminar assured their support to organizers of Yatra and several of them also committed their participation.
