Curfew relaxed in Kishtwar amid protests

Jammu, Apr 15: Curfew was relaxed in Kishtwar town for five hours today despite protests by the people against the killings of RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma and his PSO Rajinder Kumar by the militants last Tuesday.
In the morning, large number of people from the minority community defied curfew at several places in Kishtwar town and held massive demonstrations against the killings and demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

People shouted slogans against the civil and police administration for their failure to arrest the militants involved in the killings even after a week’s time.
After about an hour long protest, the people dispersed peacefully. Large number of women also joined the protests.
Meanwhile, curfew was relaxed in Kishtwar town for five hours today. The relaxation period passed of peacefully.
Initially, curfew was relaxed from 12 noon to 3 pm and then again from 4 pm to 6 pm. According to the District Magistrate Angrez Singh Rana, there will be no curfew from 6 am to 8 pm from tomorrow. However, night curfew will remain enforced.
Meanwhile, suspects detained by Kishtwar police were being questioned to reach to the accused, sources said.
Curfew was imposed in Kishtwar town on April 9 following the killings of top RSS functionary Chanderkant Sharma and his PSO by the militants inside the Kishtwar hospital.
